Grammys 2010

Just finished watching the Grammys 2010 (www.grammy.com) …First time ive ever really bothered to watch the actual show lol. I wasn’t particularly impressed to be honest…

Performance of the night HAS to go to DRAKE, LIL WAYNE and EMINEM. I stayed up specifically to see Drake, and he never failed to entertain me. Eminem KILLED it. Love his bit in “Forever” I think its amazing that he was nominated and hasn’t even got an album out yet! Sad shame he never won tho!

The most entertaining performance was Pink’s…She was doing her acrobat thing again..Looked amazing

Wasnt too impressed with Beyonce’s performance, it was quite boring to be honest. But she had an amazing outfit! However…She never thanked God in her speech which is what she used to do but we just say nada in that topic…

Maxwell did a lovely performance of Pretty wings (i used to DETESTE that song, but im secretly liking it lol) And there was a tribute for Michael Jackson (r.i.p) Not the best of tributes, but his kids were there to collect his award.

Now on to the CLOTHES! Which is the real reason why i watched it….

Some People Are So Hard To Please…

I was reading some comments about the big Uni raves that took place recently, Shutdown & Youni House, which brought up a few views, so i thought i might aswell blog it instead of arguing on twitter lol.

What exactly makes a rave live? And who’s fault is it if its dead??

After a rave, a lot of people will come home and bitch on Facebook or Twitter, blaming the PROMOTERS that the rave was dead. Why is it there fault that the rave is dead?

To me, the job of a promoter is obviously organise a rave, and PROMOTE the rave. Obviously, a lot of promoters think a rave will be live if they put 30 DJ’s and Hosts on a line up and make sure the rave is so packed that people can’t move freely and BREATH. That will NOT make a rave live. To be honest, i’d rather go to a rave with about 5/6 EXCELLENT Dj’s Host on a line up, rather than a rave with about 4 good djs and 20 mediocre ones! Half the time i don’t even notice the dj’s switch over until i hear the same songs being repeated! kmt

Some people blame the DJ’s and Host, and i think, they are more to blame if a rave is dead than the promoters. If a DJ plays the same old bait tunes, and repeat songs that have already been played then yea, the rave gets very boring. There are some hosts/Mc’s who just can not hype up a rave. They just chat a lot of hot shit over a beat and it just gets boring. There’s like 3 or 4 people GUARANTEED to hype a rave! (Trilla, Coldsteps, Zest, Funky Dee maybe more but obviously not as good if you didn’t pop up into my head lol)

HOWEVER,  I 100% believe that the reasons why raves are dead is because of the RAVERS. Majority of the raves i go to that i consider dead, is because everyone will stand around the edge, or be sitting down the whole night. WHY DID YOU EVEN COME? yuh na have chair an wall at home? You paid how much entry, spent how much time getting ready just for you to come and be BORING?

People are only ready to dance when FUNKY comes on. I love funky, but there are OTHER genre’s of music!! People don’t appreciate Bashment(I mean real bashment, not just dagger dagger, jook jook, in deh in deh bashment!), or Old skool jams, or R&B, Garage and grime no more. The rave is most live when Funky’s on. As soon as another Dj plays something other than Funky, the room clears a bit…Am i lying?? I wanna know what people did without Funky, i don’t think raves existed!! You’re NOT a raver if you only like ONE genre of music, EXPAND your mind!!

I will go to a rave in Sutton,(which is predominately filled with white people) with some unknown Dj, and i will have a BETTER time than when i’m at this big, hyped up raves…Why? Because white people know how to have fun!! Fact, they will dance to everything! They go out and have a good time. I’m not racist obviously, but i really am i starting to HATE going to raves that are filled with black people. A lot of you are TOO STOOSH! You only dance to a few tunes, and if you don’t like it your quick to run off to the nearest chair. And even if you do like it, your unlikely to bruk out and have fun lol. Therefore making it awkward for people who want to bruk out, making them centre of attention. The whole point is to go out, have fun, dance, interact and enjoy yourself. There is no point in going to rave if your just going to dead it for other people, stay ah yuh yard!

I think ravers are too reliant on PROMOTERS and DJ’s/ HOSTS to make a rave a live, when YOU are just as involved as they are?! What exactly do you want them to do?? Make you dance? Tie strings to your arms and legs and move you like puppets?? Do you want clowns and balloon shapers there? Some people are just TOO hard to please!! The ones who complain about dead raves…:

-Are the people who ASSUMED the rave will be live cos of the 30 man line up.

-They’re the ones who ASSUMED a rave filled with 2000 people will be a live.

-They’re the ones who ASSUMED going to a rave in Leicster on a coach, but is just filled with the same kind of people, will be a live rave.

-They’re the SAME ones who complained about the last “Dead” uni rave, but still go to another rave with the SAME line up, and the SAME people, in a similar environment.

- They’re the people who ONLY dance to funky.

- They’re the people who sit down all night or stand by the wall.

So obviously, if all the raves you go to, are all “DEAD”, maybe you have to think about how YOU contribute to the rave? What are YOU doing that is obviously not making the rave live??

The raving scene is definitely dying because of the Funky over-load and ravers attitude to other genres. I think we are ALL to blame, not just the promoters! But who do you think is to blame for a DEAD rave??

15 Reasons Why I Hate Raving C&P 7/11/09

Hey Readers…haven’t written on here in a while.

Went out yesterday to celebrate the FIRST part of my birthday (BIG 20 – look out for a blog on that lol) at a rave in Watford.  Maybe i’m just getting old, but i HATE raving now!

Reason 1 – the amount of money i spend BEFORE a rave. i don’t like wearing the same outfit twice. you will NOT see me in the same dress in the same year. FACT lol. i have to buy clothes, maybe accessories, shoes etc. For people to not appreciate my outfit because we’re in the dark most of the time!lol

Reason 2 – Travelling. I hate public transport! i hate trekking all the way to a rave, ESPECIALLY in winter. Time to get my pinky and my car! lol

Reason 3 – I hate Queuing up! again, ESPECIALLY in winter! have u ever tried to stand in heels on a cold ass night in a dress and just be waiting there? toes will drop off!

Reason 4 – Why do people feel the need to be LATE to raves? Why does the rave open at 10 yet you arrive at 1am?? So that the early birds like me (who hate queuing) are standing in a DEAD rave waiting on you late ass people to arrive!

Reason 5 – Stoosh people. You paid how much entry fee to come here to STAND BY THE WALL? Do you not have a wall at your house? so stay there. I don’t appreciate these people ruining the vibe!

Reason 6 – People don’t appreciate music anymore. All they wanna hear is FUNKY FUNKY FUNKY and more FUNKY! i loveeeee funky, been a funky fan since ’07. Now everyones jumped on the wagon and abandoned all the other genres of music and don’t dance to nothing but funky. (maybe bait bashment) (look out for a blog on this too!) I wanna hear more old skool R & B, bashment (not just movado and kartel!)

Reason 7 – Dj’s PLEASE listen to what the previous Dj’s play. i Don’t wanna hear a repeat of songs over & over again!

Reason 8 – Funky skanks! there is only ONE move people do…You lot know what move i’m talking bout! Everyone dancing like they just came out of a funky factory!

Reason 9 – In the words of Coldsteps…If you can’t dance LEAVE IT ALONE!! Why would you come and stand next to me when “tribal man skank” comes on if you DON’T KNOW THE DANCE? Go and stand in the corner. Don’t mess up my rhythm, that just gets me vex! if you see me screwing in a rave, its most probably because of this!

Reason 10- HYPING over a song. Do not EVER in your life jump up and down near me like a kangaroo on crack because Drake or Apple came on. Behave yourself. KMT. ( I will allow this behaviour however if TRILLA is on stage lol)

Reason 11 – Why would you buy a drink, then walk ALLLLLL the way into the middle of the rave and start skanking. With your drink. In your hand. Have you gone mad? Are you REALLY spilling drink on ma arm? are you? Stay by the bar til you’ve finished kmt.

Reason 12- Girls, i understand, most of you wear weave ( i used to too) but LLOWE putting your hair in my face. i REALLY hate it with a passion. I understand why guys hate girls with weave lol.

Reason 13 – Guys, i do NOT care that your walking around with a bottle of Moet in your hand. I don’t. And neither does anyone else. Getting excited because you bought it in a rave, when its not even THAT expensive and costs around £20-£30 in a shop. You just got BUMPED. So silly is your middle name. If you insist on gettin drunk, just buy a normal drink, grey goose, JD etc. I don’t think anymore of you cos you know how to share a bottle of Champs.

Reason 14 – I don’t understand why people who clearly can NOT take alcohol in public get drunk. If you can’t conduct yourself in a respected, sensible manner DON’T get drunk in public! dropping all over the place looking like an idiot.

Reason 15 – Hypes in a rave. Why are you fighting? Why? Is it REALLY necessary. If You Have a short temper DON’T GO RAVING! You ruin it for everyone else who came here for a good time!

But yeah, thats why i hate raving now lol. i sound like a right old bitch! but Tell me its not true?I did however enjoy that rave excluding all 15points lol
